This is a wonderful new CD of 9 tunes that features this very exciting New Orleans based Western Swing band. The band has spotlighted on vocal and rhythm guitar- Johnny Angel. Ron Reiss is the steel guitarist and also plays tic-toc bass and does harmony vocals. Michael Harvey plays fiddle and Markalain Dery plays doghouse bass. Kit Keen and James Clark are the drummers and Ben Rosow plays electric lead guitar.
The material is a mixture of western swing, Texas dance hall music and country. The album, produced by Ron Reiss, opens with a terriffic Western Swing sound, Johnny Angel's composition Crawfish & Cowboys, a future top 10 hit. Others penned by Johnny included in this album are the country sounds of Where is the App and (I Won't Be) Lonesome Alone and the super Texas dance hall sound of Empty Glass Cafe and You're the Heartbreak. Another Texas dance hall gem, written by steel player Ron Reiss is I Don't Miss Her as Much. Ron also wrote What She Don't Know Won't Hurt Her and Another Cry. The album closes with a reprise of Crawfish and Cowboys.
