Bobby 'Sofine' Butler plays Cheaper Crude Or No More Food on the Hee Haw show in 1979. This year 1979, the Phoenix-based Mr. Burns invested his last $ 1,800 to record "Cheaper Crude or No More Food," with a local radio disk jockey, Bobby Butler, doing the vocal. "It started out as a novelty record," recalls Mr. Butler, who calls himself "Bobby Sof ine" on the record. "Now people are jumping on it like a political bandwagon to protest the price of gas."
